Marco Battuta is an Australian company based in Melbourne.
Our business inspiration comes from two of the greatest known travellers the world has known, Marco Polo and Ibn Battuta. Between them, the two men covered over 140,000km and in the process became confidants for sultans, merchant traders on the Silk Road, and scholars of authority. Most importantly, they were orators of adventure, voyage and inspiration.
At Marco Battuta, our own travel experiences have lead us to this moment in time, where we bring you some of the most essential travel items necessary to help you live your inspiration.
Our philosophy is simple:
- Provide high quality products,
- Deliver around the clock customer service; and
- Give back to the community
So who are Marco Polo and Ibn Battuta?
Marco Polo was a thirteenth century Venetian merchant, explorer, traveller and writer of one of the world’s earliest odysseys to the Far East. He left his hometown of Venice at 17 with his father and uncle and continued an adventure that lasted 24 years, covering over 20,000km of land and accumulating numerous tales of wild and wonderful.
Ibn Battuta was born in Tangiers, Morocco in 1304. He was a scholar, explorer and a confidant to a legion of sultans and kings. He left his home at 21 for the hajj pilgrimage, a journey that usually would take ~18months, however, his adventure lasted 24 years. Upon his departure from home he wrote, “I set out alone, having neither fellow-traveller in whose companionship I might find cheer, nor caravan whose part I might join, but swayed by an overmastering impulse within me and a desire long-cherished in my bosom to visit these illustrious sanctuaries.”
They are our inspiration, who is yours?
